King Solar, located at 2615 Switzer Rd in Yoder, provides solar and energy storage solutions to residential and commercial customers across Kansas. They’ve been based out of Yoder since 2013, when Mark and Kendra Horst bought the company from Kendra’s uncle, who had been installing solar since the early 1980s. Working initially out of their garage, Mark proudly installed four solar systems his first year in business!
As the industry grew, King Solar moved into an old dairy barn along Yoder Road before building an office/warehouse in 2024. Today, King Solar has twenty employees and has installed hundreds of residential and commercial solar projects around the state of Kansas. King Solar values community connections, and one of their proudest accomplishments was completing their 2024 building project with most subcontractors coming from a 5-mile radius of Yoder!
